DOMESTIC FUEL OIL URGENT WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT As a rural village, without any mains gas supply, many of our residents use Domestic Fuel Oil as their main fuel source, for heating and/or hot water. During the period late November to late December 2010, oil prices escalated as much as 70 – 80% above October 2010 prices. Domestic Fuel Oil supply is not a regulated industry and it can therefore in theory, do what it wishes. These huge price increases, totally out of proportion to crude oil price rises, have resulted in many concerns and complaints from consumers. This issue has also been raised in the House of Commons and the Energy Minister has passed the matter to the Office of Fair Trading for investigation. Domestic Fuel Oil users are encouraged to support this investigation and complain to the Office of Fair Trading and our local MP, Gary Streeter. Accordingly, will you please support the following Petition:- ****** PETITION DOMESTIC FUEL OIL Also known as Off Grid Oil • We do not believe that Domestic Fuel Oil price rises from late November to late December 2010 were either fair or justifiable. • We fully support an investigation by the Office of Fair Trading into:- (i) How Domestic Fuel Oil suppliers can justify these huge price increases (ii) Why should 1 or 2 companies, which actually own many of the Domestic Fuel Oil suppliers, be allowed to have an industry monopoly and thus be able to dictate oil prices to consumers (iii) Introducing regulation into the Domestic Fuel Oil industry, in order to protect consumers from future unfair and unjustifiable price rises.
