We petition the Mills County Board of Supervisor to set forth ordinances for dirt extraction pits to include but not be limited to: times and days of operation, covering loads, spacing of trucks, and a means of directing traffic.
We petition the Board of Supervisors to establish a means of enforcing these regulations and set fines to be paid for violating the regulations.
We call for the collection of fees to cover the cost of primary roads as well as secondary roads.
We request that the Board of Supervisors hold a public meeting during evening hours to entertain concerns from citizens and that ads be placed in the area newspapers with time, place and date of said meeting. We request this date be set prior to January 1, 2015.
We insist that the Board of Adjusters adhere to the zoning regulations when approving special use permits. We ask that permits be reviewed every six months.

The fact that this is allowed in areas of known archeological significance shows an amazing amount of ignorance by our elected officials and callous disregard for Mills County's rich cultural heritage.
I've lost track now of how many times I've had rocks from these trucks hit my windshield. I seem to remember us being assured that as a "good neighbor",they would make sure that loads were covered with tarps?! I'm waiting for the day that my windshield actually cracks!
This dirt removal operation, to include supporting operations, is cause health issues for my family and a reduced quality of life for us. It is also diminishing my property value, causing me lost in investment and limiting my ability to sale the property and relocate. At minimum the county should reassess our property taxes and reinvest some of the money being made back into the affected neighborhoods, such as paving the roads, adding safety and sound deadening features around the property, etc.
The Loess Hills are only found in two areas of the world - China and SW Iowa. It's sad that the "hills" are being cut away for someone's profit! And the PCI truck drivers seem to think they own the road - stop signs don't mean anything to them, nor does the right away of oncoming traffic.
