I am a parent of a service scholar and college professor of 31 years. Service scholars need to schedule large blocks of time at service sites, making scheduling a challenge. Early scheduling will enable them to more easily meet this challenge, and reduce the scheduling stress semester after semester.

It would be a nice luxury to have, knowing that 200 of the hours other students have free we put in to our community. We are blessed to have such a scholarship and I think it would be an honor for the service scholars to be able to pick their classes that early in the week.

As a double major in Inclusive Childhood Education and English, I take almost the maximum amount of credit hours each semester. It is very difficult for me to block off a chunk of time to be sure I am able to complete my service hours as well as have time for my courses, field placement/student teaching, and homework, but it becomes even tougher when classes are filled and I am forced to take different courses during a time I had set aside for volunteering. Please consider allowing all service scholars to register with the honors students so that we are able to dedicate enough time to the community service we love to do so very much. Thank you!

Registering for classes as a full time undergraduate student is stressful, then add on also schedulint 7-10 hours of additional service time, not including outside service. I understand the privileges that come with a scholarship but there also are logistics that need to be considered. Why should others get priority when they don't have to schedule in any additional time that is required by their scholarship.

Service students would benefit greatly from setting up their schedules early - with the honor students- in order to fulfill a worthwhile obligation while proactively choosing to fulfill their commitment to the scholarship program. Sounds like an honorable right of passage toward responsible adulthood. Please give this petition serious consideration.

I was a class rep of the class of 2015. This would have saved me from taking certain classes that I didn't need to take for my major or minor.

I absolutely support the Service Scholars' petition. It is mandatory for these students to complete necessary service hours and they need the ability to plan schedules in advance in order to accommodate their service opportunities.
