Skins was a well written British teen drama with an excellent cast of characters. Underscoring the emotions of each character was a soundtrack of popular music that couldn't be beat. Sadly, when the show was eventually released on dvd, the music rights were deemed to be "too expensive," resulting in nearly all of the licensed music being excised and replaced with bad sound-a-likes. The two most egregious cases are a live cover of "On The Street Where You Live" being replaced with an unrelated original, and the climactic scene of series one being cut entirely (the whole cast singing Cat Stevens' Wild World"). Those two scenes are the most important, but there are many other moments that worked so much better with the original broadcast soundtrack. Please sign this petition in the hope that this wonderful show can live forever the way it was meant to be seen. If Freaks and Geeks can get released with of it's music intact, so can Skins.
