This is a big thing and Reg was a local resident at the time and celebrity.

It is shameful that the bank takes the credit for the ATM but does not give any recognition to its opening by Mr Varney. It's typical of big business to ignore the public for whom they work!

It's Reg's birth centenary next year (2016) and the museum in Budleigh Salterton where I am a volunteer is planning an exhibition to honour him. The more you read about him the more you realise he was more than just a comedy actor. Definitely deserves a plaque mention.

Reg Varney was a first class entertainer and true gent. He also helped make my childhood a happy one with his work for 'On the Buses'. Happy days and great memories.
