Refugee University Students Petition for Employment Recognition in South Africa

Refugees are entitled to the right to work. This right must be taken into account by the professional councils

This is a noble struggle for recognition, integration and social cohesion.

All refugees should have equal rights as well as asylum seekers. I believe that all humans from all around the world should all have equal rights.

We need employment

it is fundamentally unacceptable that Africans within their own continent are refugees in the first place and yet we wanna talk unification. its time to engage: All the non SAns has an interest to unite and engage the powers that be for a change of status-quo

Refugees are struggling in South Africa due to the system which is not facilitating them to get what they deserve based on some individuals who are corrupted and want people to suffer if they don't give them the bribe.

I know someone from Uganda with Masters in Law whose currently working as a sales consultant having to wait for a permenant residence to practice. Wasn't even allowed to write his bar exams in Uganda because they wanted him to have studied in Uganda. So this situation is quite sad.

It is very disappointing to know that refugees have been restricted and caught up in a position of not belonging to a category - either foreign or nationals even after formal recognition.

We will not rest until our voices are heard

Refugees never chose to leave their Countries because they wanted to stay in the host Countries. Refugees are people who are denied their basic human rights by their home countries who fortunately escaped some form of torture or mistreatment Refugees hope to regain their basic human rights in their host countries. I think it is another form of torture if you can allow people to go University for their long term life plan or other life project and after the first step you restrict them from advancing. The SA Government should make it clear that no refugee has right to education because knowledge is not a capital someone puts in basket and cover, to advance knowledge needs a field of application.

I truly support for refugees students

South Africa should consider that we are all Africans.

Thank u for the initiative. We r in the same bote. Having completed my B Tech in 2010 still today I m within unsteady jobs. So keep the flag higher and higher.

Many of my interviews turn cold, once I reveal that I am a refugee. It almost a year that I have graduated from University and I'm still unemployed.
