Refugee University Students Petition for Employment Recognition in South Africa

Work is work! Ones origin should not be a factor when considering what work is recognized or not! Quality, efficiency and commitment is what really matters!

Africa belongs to Africans. Our decisions making bodies should treat the issues of African migrants/and refugees with a more welcoming approach. Integrating these marginalised category of people will bring such a positive impact on South African socio-economic sphere in particular and on the African continent in general. Should we fail to welcome them, somebody on the other side of the ocean will (brain drain, if you know what I mean). South Africa must and should remain a role model to other African countries in terms of strengthening social cohesion, integration and unity among African fellows.

Refugees and asylum seekers who are graduating from South Africa universities,if given a chance they can work toward building a better SA for everyone living in it. These are people who can think and reason as everyone else,its just that they fled their respective countries for different reasons!

after working hard. study and be car guard in evening i got my degree in mathematics.but can't get job even do to my internship . even got degree in critical skills. i don't have allowed me to apply for skills visa only international student can apply it no. refugee .the said

Borders are preventing people to get the benefits they should be getting

As a refugee for the last 13years and a graduate in this republic with status permit, I believe if this policy implemented in the right direction there is no doubt it will uplift many specialy Refugee graduate bcz right now many graduate like me feel hopeless in RSA.

Hello South Africa !Enough is enough. Western countries are developping from africans taken from Africa . But you South Africa, africans bring themselves in to your land but you ignore them instead of grabing their knowlegde and develop this country

Unity is power, I don't have any words beyond those of the public. I agree with the piblic.

This Green paper is unacceptable. If the SA government accept refugees, it must care and protect them as well.

If aslym seekers aren't allowed to work while waiting for refugee status, how will they survive? Because South African government doesn't provide anything (accommodation, subsistence money...) other than that paper.

Finally there is a ray of hope for us refugees who complete every stage of our education here in South Africa

I think they should be considered to work here if they get the opportunity . Given that their qualification is from here,I do not see why they should be discriminated.

What Home Affairs is doing is unfair to refugees and now worse what the green paper states!! South Africans who seek refuge in other countries in other countries are treated with dignity, why not accord it to those that seek refuge in their country. So much for "Ubuntu"!!!

A public servant who wants to pass a regulation like this is not feet to hold this office,most of south african leaders were educated while they were refugees,this is another form of apartheid.we demand recognition and value refugees like other peoples in this country.

i 'm refugee graduated from uwc. got bsc degree in mathematic and can't a job. and than allowed to apply for skills visa. only international student the can apply not refugee. mean refugee we study for nothing
