Referendum To Maintain Original End Of Fall 2016 Quarter

I am an international student with a round trip ticket back home. The hurricane was unfortunate and completely natural. The extension of the quarter affects all of us and there are other options that could be used.

Because of hurricane Matthew and the evacuation that followed for the city of Savannah, SCAD has decided to stop classes from Wednesday the 5th until Sunday the 16th, and then decided to assign make-up sessions after the end of Fall 2016 term, until December 1st. Students of SCAD Savannah do not find this decision neither fair, nor acceptable. A lot of students have travel plans, and they already purchased their tickets.We, the undersigned, SCAD Savannah students, call on the SCAD administration to go back on it's decision to extend classes until December 1st, and urge them to find another "fair" solution for students.

We should just make these dates up on Fridays, Saturdays,ect.....

THIS IS RIDICULOUS. People have travel plans out of the country/across country and this just screws that up completely, not to mention the fact that a majority of the people attending cannot afford to travel back and forth. I vote make up classes on Fridays and Saturdays. This is completely outrageous.

This is horrible especially for international students who spent so much money on plane tickets and now we cant even change them.

This is unnacceptable. So many people I know have travel plans that will now have to be conpletely forfeited. Who will pay for all of the reservation changes?!?

We could easily squeeze in all of our classes on Fridays and then two more days the week of Thanksgiving. Plane ticket prices go up around the holidays and it's hard to afford going back and forth. We've all admitted to wanting to give up our Fridays to go to class so we don't have an extra week. Listen to us.

It's way too late for them to do this to students and parents...most people have made travel plans already and this will be a hardship to many. Make up on the Fridays / Saturdays.

I think SCAD's current solution to the Savannah campus' make up classes is completely unacceptable to the overwhelming majority of the student body, which is made up of international and out of state students. I believe there are definitely many options and combination of options SCAD could have used to more effectively planned out make up classes without putting the students in compromising situations. I myself am an out of state student from Colorado and was going to participate in a Hong Kong Immersion Program with the architecture department

Making up on Fridays and Saturdays is the way to go. Not extending the quarter.

This is ridiculous.

As an international student, changing plane tickets is an issue and as we may all know, has a fee. SCAD should definetely revise this and take into account all international students who already had plane tickets bought in advance.

This decision makes my ability to get a job more difficult as well as means that thanksgiving will be spent working on projects and stressing about finals. Not to mention that many people will not be able to return to their families for thanksgiving and will be unable to change expensive plane tickets.
