We here in Denton want to make the earth more clean and help shrink our carbon footprint in Texas. We would like to send this to you so you can make it public so more people can participate in reducing our carbon footprint. The reason we think this is a very important subject to make public is that not a lot of people actually know the causes of what carbon does to the earth and the environment around the world.

For example ,the green house effect, it occurs when certain gases in the atmosphere (the air around the Earth) entrap infrared radiation. This effect makes the planet warmer, in the same way a greenhouse keeps its inside temperature warm.

The greenhouse effect is caused by greenhouse gases. The most important greenhouse gases in Earth's atmosphere are: water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane. When there is more greenhouse gas in the air, the air holds more heat. This is why more greenhouse gases cause more global warming.

So, due to the green house effect the earth and oceans warm up it causes a big effect. The oceans water levels increase exposing ecosystems like coral reefs and hunting grounds for fish and other animals to move closer to shore and run into people. So, when the waters increase and rise up this causes fish and other sea creatures to move closer to shore. This could be bad because what happens when the water raises too high and there are sharks or other predator fish so close to shore you can touch them, or when fish colonize new parts of the beach. You could be stepping on fire coral and other harmful things. The raising of the water due to the green house effect will cause many unfortunate accidents.

How can we help reverse all of this? Well, we have a few ideas.The couple causes and solutions that we are petitioning for are changes in the production of red meat, and switch to alternative energy use. We should eat less red meat because cattle and sheep produce large amounts of methane, which is a greenhouse gas that packs 72 times the punch of CO2 over a 20 year period. We are also trying to switch to alternative energy uses to minimize human made global warming lost, which will cost about $3 to $15 for natural gas. Solar panels will cost about $200 to $300. With your help we can get 100,000 signatures.
