As a retired teacher of 40+ years, a retired substitute teacher of several years and a classroom volunteer, I can attest to the fact that class size matters. It is very difficult, if not totally impossible, to give individual attention to each student that they deserve and need to have the best educational opportunity and experience for success and preparation for the next level of education and world challenges. Do they math as to the amount of time each student will able to individually receive from the teacher as classroom sizes increase. The result is staggering. Does Bettendorf want to be the best choice of schools for young families moving into the QC housing market? Be the BEST!!

Class sizes have been creeping up since my son started kindergarten in 2008 and it is very noticeable. The classrooms are crowded and even the most talented of teachers can't spend time with individual kids that deserve it. Open enrollment also needs to be reviewed- kids should be able to go to their "home school" like their parents expect when they move into a neighborhood.

May want to revise choice schools as well, keeping kids in their home schools! We have families moving into the neighborhood not only for their home, but for the school. However, their children can't go to that school, due to number of students attending the school that aren't even within the school boundaries.

Not only do I feel class sizes should be reduced, I feel that it would be a really bad idea in a whole to close any of our elementary schools.

We DO NOT want these Mega schools that are being proposed! Maybe spend less on athletics and more on these buildings you're thinking of shutting down.

Yes please! We just moved from Minnesota this school year. My current kindergartener has 25 kids in her class. When my 2nd grader was in K in MN, her class size was 18 kids. That is a huge difference! And we were in a district with over 700 other kids her age. Thank you.

I work in a classroom all day long and there is barely room to move. You have to keep the class sizes smaller.
