As residents on Grey Road 18, near Owen Sound, who have children, we have noticed an increase in speeding and unsafe driving and plan to petition Grey County to reduce the speed limit from 80 km/ hour to 60km/ hour between Concession Road 10 and Grey County Road 11 (east of Rockford). Grey Road 18 between Concession 10 and Grey County Road 11 is highly residential and an 80 km/hr speed limit (highway speed) is no longer appropriate or safe.
Issues include: the safety of children, especially school bus stops and walking along road to homes, poor stopping sight distance due to vertical curves, high number of residential entrances, increased frequency in speeding and stunt driving (at least 50km over the speed limit) and generally dangerous driving (i.e.passing on solid lines).
Please sign below if you support this petition for a reduction in speed and to improve safety. Please include your address in the comment section.

Would love to see the speed limit reduced in front of our home! Too many 18 wheelers and joy riders take this bypass instead of hwy 26 to avoid traffic, just so they can go faster than 100km/hr. The majority of residents on this stretch are residential homes with a short distance from the road. It is getting really scary to even go out to collect mail let alone walking with stroller or letting children play in the front yard.
