Local areas like 'Fish Island' have character and interest. It is shameful that special places like this are being taken over by very standard off-the peg designs that might be located anywhere, and any visitor would look around and not know where they were. The location beside the famous and Lee Navigation is something special, and the importance of the waterway cannot be sidelined in the pursuit of short term financial gain which has no heart. This is enshrined inpolicy such as the London Plan that state that waterside developments should relate to the waterway (BRN Policy 7.24), yet developers get away without giving our wonderfl waterways a second thought - other than waterside properties generate an automatic 25% uplift in profits. They take from the character and importance of an area and asset but give nothing back.

The policies for this historic waterside site could not be clearer : the stable block must be retained and repaired, the yard must be put to use as intended, and the barge loading crane left where it is, making sense of Swan Wharf's history in a context of vibrant regeneration.

Some of us saw this coming. I don't know hat its going to take for Londoners to wake up to the theats regeenration projects face. It is vital we go beyond pure petitioning; there are other methods of resistance open to us if we ORGANISE. Go to www.voicesfromthevillage.co.uk to find out more.

Some of us saw this coming. I don't know what it's going to take for Londoners to wake up to the theats regeneration projects pose to existing communities. It is vital we go beyond pure petitioning so London does not become a hub for the super-rich; there are other methods of resistance open to us if we ORGANISE. These changes will remove Hackney Wicks core community and uniqueness, and history of industrial age. Its neighbourhood-cleansing.

Do not destroy attractive listed buildings in order to replace them with large nondescript ugly shoeboxes

The development of the hackney wick area would benefit hugely from retaining the unique qualities, characrter and atmosphere of the area and I am convinced the proposed development would ruin this entirely.
