The Camden & Islington Youth leagues 1800 players and its committee are calling on the Town Hall to rethink plans to downsize the pitch in Barnard Park.

Renovating the football pitch within the original footprint that it was intended for, would enable a broad range of partners to provide sporting opportunities for a wide sector of the community with a number of social and community benefits, in line with Islington Council’s Corporate Plan.

None of the options outlined in the councils proposals include a renovation of the full sports space for sports activities and we believe that a 70% or 80% reduction in the activity space is counterproductive where space to play sport is so desperately under provided.
