The fact that a few people was close to removing one of the biggest events in US history, and has so much control over the front page of Reddit is sickening. We need a stricter set of guideline for moderators of subs of these magnitude. We need new blood.

As a default subreddit on one of the largest social media sites in the world, with a platform that reaches millions of viewers: these mods have a responsibility to report 'news' unbiasedly instead of trying to push an agenda. If you want a community that agrees with your own political beliefs then make a new subreddit. Reddit would not exist without strong default subs that appeal to the masses. R/news should be the embodiment of that sentiment but seems as though it has fallen so far left that the only thing that will fix it is if every mod is fired immediately and is replaced by people that understand that their political beliefs should not come before accuracy in reporting the news. I love reddit and I want to see it grow but the longer this censorship goes on the less it will appeal to the masses and the quality in content will suffer. Please reddit make the right decision and put competent people in charge of r/news, I believe you will make the right decison

Sounds like the moderators at r/news don't really know what they are doing.

Censorship is sickening. Ideologically motivated censorship from a supposedly neutral website even more so.

The moderators of /r/news have demonstrated that they are incapable of allowing their own personal biases affect their expected impartiality. These repeated indiscretions came to a head the morning following the Orlando attack, as the moderators openly suppressed legitimate news and silenced discussion. /r/news is a major subreddit that should be moderated apolitically. A new team is necessary for this to happen.

Censor is one thing, but censoring life saving information like "blood banks are low go make donations" could cost more lives. Moderators of r/news are henius as they are power minded.

no excuse for this behavior. deleting comments about people saying that blood donations are needed to try to help those in need. this wasn't one mod, everyone let this happen.

This was bad. Something like this should never happen. This was a very hard backstab to Democracy.

This is disgusting. Reddit should be a bastion of free speech and honest journalism. We didn't stop SOPA for this.

Mod tell someone to kill themselves, Mod tells someone who report it to shut up, adults are talking. I don't even know what to say about how bad that is.

The state of r/news was appalling and one moderator even told someone to kill themselves. This is unacceptable and I don't even know how someone like this ended up a moderator of a major sub-reddit in the first place.

This is a national tragedy and the censoring of a "news" subreddit is appalling.

I was very disappointed that R/news deleted all posts about the attack in Orlando. I woke up and there was nothing on the front page about it because of all the deleting the did.
