The AFL recently declined the decision to introduce a red card rule which sends players off the field for executing a dangerous act which harms the opposition. I think that the red card rule would be a good rule to implement to the game. If a player is sent of the field it can prevent the oppositions team from responding to a teammate being harmed. Sending the player who did the dangerous act off the field for the rest of the game is a harsh enough consequence in my opinion. If the player is sent of the field he is letting down himself and his teammates. If the incident is bad enough the player also should face suspension. We need to protect our players better and I think that the red card rule would help prevent players from harming the opposition.
