The Tembec Paper Mill at Pine Falls Manitoba recently announced it will stop recycling old newspapers and begin cutting down large numbers of trees to make newsprint, instead! Not only will this regrettable move throw a dozen people out of their jobs, it will probably destroy up to 200,000 trees per year! Tembec used to de-ink some 100 tonnes of old newspapers every day. But the company claims it isn't making enough money this way and can make more by cutting down virgin forest! Please sign this petition which will be presented to both Tembec and the Government of Manitoba asking for urgent reconsideration.
