This is an amazing cause. I would love to see this implemented all across the country and hope that it would come to my college soon as well! As masks take over 400 years to naturally decompose we need to stand up and take initiative or our descendants will continue seeing these masks float all around the world. I have personally seen many masks littering anywhere from the parks to the oceans which can cause havoc to the environment. Although these masks are labeled as single-use, disposable items, they are not single-use, they are not disposable! They can be recovered, remade, and reused multiple times, and I hope this initiative will make that happen at CSULB's campus. It is crazy to see how quickly these masks came into circulation ever since the beginning of the pandemic with little to no regard as to where they go once used. Hopefully, next time I visit CSULB these trashcans will be implemented campuswide and there would be no more mask litter! I volunteer Alon Shafran to be the leading hand in picking up each individual mask all across campus for the sake of keeping Long Beach clean. I know that through his leadership and commitment to the environment we will be able to tackle this massive problem on the micro and macro level, from Long Beach to the entire world! If you are seeing this comment I beg that you too will give a hand in bettering the campus, one mask at a time and hopefully within the next six to seven months we will be able to have a sizable effect on the beautiful campus of CSULB. This project especially resonates with me as it is such a universal problem around our globe and even though we are starting small, this can really expand all across the US, first to all the universities, then other forms of academia such as high schools, and finally to corporate offices and public spaces. Another way to help would be to think of ideas new, innovative ideas of what to do with the collected masks other than sending them to the recycling companies as that

We should minimize the waste we created.
This sounds like a good idea :)
