Rectify Damages to Sanctuary Village and Support our Citizens facing Homelessness

I have never been so ashamed of this cruel city. Four days before Christmas. Shame on all the people 'just doing my job.'

I support the right of the homeless to live wherever they choose.

I have contacted this site about the number of signatures and account issues. I'll keep you posted on what they say. If it's not rectified quickly perhaps we should make a new petition on another site?

Unconscionable behavior, it needs to be rectified!

if you even pretend to believe in any kind of god, how is this not the obviously right thing to do? what reasoning could anyone possibly have to not do this?

Too bad the homeless don't use social media. I printed this out and dropped it with the two people that were left at the encampment under the Frederick Douglass/Susan B. Bridge. They said they would stay in their tents because they leared that if they did, then they would not be evacuated. We watched as they bulldozed the rest of the tents at the encampment. Apparently, 4 people accepted the option to go to a shelter or Cadillac hotel. Do not know the fate of the others. There were probably 20 at least who were there previously. Christmas Party for the Homeless When: Dec. 21 10am-1pm Where: Central Library Of Rochester Monroe County 115 South Avenue Rochester, NY, 14604. This started out as a little charity function organized and inspired by two elementary aged boys, Josh and Jeremiah West. They authored a picture book “Championship of Change: Live to Give” that they will read at the event. You can check out their facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/championsofchangeusa Now everyone is getting involved. Tops is going to donate refreshments The Double Tree Hotel is helping out. A local hair salon will be doing haircutting for the homeless in a separate room. There will be games, crafts for the kids, A DJ People are donating wrapped gifts of hats/gloves/scarves that will be given to the homeless at this party ‘Be a Blessing Bag’ (gallon zip locks filled with toiletries) DJ will volunteer to play Christmas music Someone will be decorating the venue and bring things like table clothes, center pieces etc. Everyone is invited to this Christmas Party!! Galatians 5:14. Whoever made this ultimate descion to destroy everything these people had clearly is not following the most important book. Very sad and disappointed.

Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony championed the rights of of all people, including society's most vulnerable. They would be outraged at what the city has done in destroying Sanctuary Village, in the shadow of their bridge.

Your actions in destroying Sanctuary Village yesterday take my breath away. This is unacceptable. These most vulnerable residents of our city need our support and protection, not punishment over and over again for the crimes of being poor, disabled and/or struggling with addiction. Where are they supposed to go? Shame on whoever made this call.

The Mayor should have more of a heart. Apparently he does not have one.
