As a native Binghamtonian, I have always been disappointment in the city's acknowledgement of this man's genius and creativity. His work was astoundingly prophetic as is evidenced in recent cultural events.
It is time to honor Mr. Serling with more than just a plaque in front of the high school, and the re-naming of the park where he played as a child on the Merry Go Round that still stands, would surely be a fitting tribute.

It would be only fitting that the park be renamed in Rod Serling's honor. The memory and the joy of the park was always with him long after he left Binghamton. As noted he even used it as a central element in one of his most lasting legacies to Binghamton and the park in the Twilight Zone episode Walking Distance. So in the end, Recreation Park being renamed Rod Serling Recreation Park would be Binghamton's lasting legacy to Rod Serling.

The state of New York should declare the park as Rod Serling state park! It would become a big tourist attraction for fans around the world!

Rod Serling is literally a national treasure and a global icon. He used parables to open our eyes to the good and bsd, justices and injustices, dignity and indignities of mankind. Down to the core of our nature. This will be a good start at properly recognizing his earnest contributions to the TV and film industry. As well as the millions he has inspired.

Always watched the “Twilight Zone” during the years it was on TV. My son David is probably is Rod Serling’s biggest fan!
