As a new immigrant and someone who studied and worked hard for 5 years in Canada with a PhD degree obtained in Canada, I was going to buy my dream house at the end of October. Now the dream house is going to be an impossible dream for me and my wife and we should continue renting. So disappointing.

Interest rates need to stay competitive. These days governments are all taking more money out of our pockets and giving us little or nothing in return. We can only pay so much before we as individuals go bankrupt.

hard on monoline lenders and good for big 6. That is the way it should work, monopolize the market, I support smaller lenders as they give competition to big lenders and your rules are completely favoring big lenders.

Restricting credit flow for buying houses is not a solution to reduce household debts. Mortgage is the cheapest debt available why not tight the unsecured credit market and restrict bank who issues high interest credit cards and car loan. By getting the lower value house or depriving many of not being able to buy own house is basically a backward step is not progressive step. We need to stop this and change the policy immediately.

Our Government buy passing this program will see a big incline in homes that will go into foreclousure that buyer will not be able now to qualify for. This will leave CHMC on the hook for these homes. Stuip idea.

Why is the government making it harder for people to buy homes? Is that the role of the government? What about consultation? The government never asks Canadians want they want or need.

This only serves the big banks! Proof of who the government actually works for! Very bad decision as this will eliminate competition. Government gone wild... AGAIN!

Don't make it impossible for lower income peoples to buy houses. If you do, you will only make the richer richer and the poorer poorer.

I think these new rules have to be quashed. These rules are doing the opposite of what the people wanted. We wanted the government to stop foreign purchases of real estate. It appears that we are hoping to stop foreign investment in real estate by denying these investors the principle residence exemption but has anybody thought about international tax laws and that perhaps these investors do not file their taxes in Canada and therefore this has no affect on them. Appears to me that we have hurt the first time buyers. Why would our government not want their people to have a chance to gain wealth. All these first time buyers will now likely continue to rent and the foreign buyers will continue to buy our real estate because the principle residence exemption never affected them. I strongly recommend that these new mortgage rules be abolished. I wonder if there could be Charter of Rights infringements as Canadians no longer have equal benefit of the law.

Potentially very damaging to Canadian homeowners. There should be much more consultation with the industry before making drastic changes like this.
