This new regulation is DEPLORABLE. IT needs to be regional NOT national!

These ridiculous new laws hurt first time homebuyers, the construction industry, homeowners who want to move up, one income homeowners and pretty much all the middle class. Where was the consultation? Big banks are behind it, trying to squeeze Canadians once again.

I don't understand why DOF is pushing these rules which are in favour of the banks. They did not consider the impact on the whole industry as well as the job market. The real estate market, even the capital market needs the competition, but by pushing these rules, the government is actually slowing down the economy.

The new mortgage rule is the approximate equivalent of killing a flea with a sledgehammer. It will disadvantages first time buyers significantly at a time when the market pricing may continue to rise and remove any reasonable chance for home ownership for several years

If I can say anything, it is that elimination competition and forcing consumers to the banks will not only have a great impact on monoline lenders, but it will also end in increased costs and increased interest rates. BOC qualifying will bring buying power down, thus bring housing prices down. In the middle of a recession, this is not the right approach. Let's talk about managing credit card debt and auto loans, among other loans/lending.

Rash, poorly thought out decision making that will needlessly slow down the construction industry and other areas of the economy directly related to housing. Tell me Liberals, how does this help the middle class??

I work for a mortgage lender where the new rules pertaining to bulk insurance is going to have a negative affect on our business and reduce the number of products that we'll be able to offer to customers.

These new rules for mortgages were by far the worst rules brought in to date. It will end up hurting the country more the most people anticipate.

I have built my clientele base specializing in real estate investors, and helping the person who's just starting, to develop a small portfolio. So far, three of my top lenders have pulled their rental product from the market. This has huge negative implications for our brokerage and feels like the long term condequences to the market, as a whole, have not been fully considered. I am not necessarily in disagreement with the stress test, but the rest is outside of what is reasonable.
