These new rules are totally unfair as it has lined the pockets of the banks meanwhile robbing the consumer's right to shop for competitive rates & forcing them to pay higher bank interest rates for their biggest purchases of their lives.

Punishing Canadians and destroying completion within the marketplace is not the way to affect positive change

The Government needs to maintain a regulatory environment that ensures competitiveness amongst lenders, consumer choice, while taking reasonable measures to manage housing market risk - balanced with a healthy and active housing market. The impact of the insured mortgage rules, particularly those that are scheduled for November 30th, are counter to these key elements and need to be re-visited under a consultative manner.

This is the liberals way of reducing competition in the market place for big banks. I fully support this petition. Why is all of Canada going to pay for Toronto and Vancouver?

I truly believe this will have a negative impact on the consumers looking for choice. Leveraging the big banks

Keep bulk insurance for refinances. maybe lower the max refi limit to $750k or $650k on an insured refi. Same for rental purchases. It is not good competition if there are only 6 main lenders for rental purchases and for all refinances!

it is extremely important that the mortgages required to purchase Canadian homes not become the exclusive domain of 6 Canadian banks, this change would be neither wise nor healthy in the long term. All of Canada should not be punished for Vancouver and Toronto housing markets

It is unfortunate whenever government policy makers impose changes with no factual backing. It reminds me of what my University of Waterloo Economics Professor and former Statistics Canada Economist told me back in 1984 --- that interference from government policies merely make good times better than they should have been, and make bad times much worse than they should have been!

I totally support this petition, this new policy is biased towards people or investors who are loaded, this is going to kill genuine homebuyers who save up small amount to buy houses to live in.

If you want to help Canadians with consumer debt, why not look at the Credit Card Companies, Home Depot 32%

These rule changes were too much, too fast, and with no industry consultation. The Law of Unintended Consequences was coined for situations just like this. The consequences will be far further reaching than the policy makers intended.

Serving the Canadian people or the interests of the Banking industry. Seems that all could work together to solve a problem if both sides were consulted. Who pays the ultimate price? Yes, the Canadians who have their money in the banks. The Cnanadians who pay for the salary of the government representatives who are supposed to be looking after our best interests. Non bank lenders have a valid place in the market.
