Faculty Officer Student Engagement Poll:
I have a meeting with the Head of Pharmacy and Life Sciences to discuss the current policy of enforcing lab charges on the Undergraduate body.

Currently:
- The fee is collected without agreement from students prior to their enrolment
- The exact purpose is not stated
- No receipt is issued on collection
- Many other Scottish universities that deliver Pharmacy/Life Science programmes do not charge students for use of their labs.

I am a strong believer that education should be free at its point of use in Scotland for Home students and whilst we expect to incur associated costs, we should not be liable for direct charges at the School's discretion. Beyond the implications for Home students I don't believe that the School should be entitled to, as I see it, top-up the tuition fees that students pay to cover their teaching when the services they are paying extra to access are referred to as "teaching labs."
If you agree that the School should not have the liberty to charge students for a compulsory component of their studies and would like to see a review of this charge with a view to abolishing it then please sign below.
