Ms. Washington holds views that are directly in conflict with Catholic Teachings and should not be a member of the Board of Trustees of a Catholic University. I have entrusted two daughters to the care of Notre Dame (Our Blessed Lady) and I expect that they will receive Catholic education and values in every part of their experiences at Notre Dame and nothing less. I am very disturbed by the views of Ms. Washington and I respectfully ask that she resign from this post or be dismissed. Thank you! I ask God to Bless everyone at Notre Dame daily and that those entrusted with the most serious teaching care of the students there be mindful of Jesus' teachings. May our Lady continue to guide and intercess for the needs of all at Notre Dame. And may all there know God's truth and truly live it. Thank you!

Devout Catholic parents sacrifice to give their children a Catholic education and try to combat the culture of death. It is disappointing to have to see the administration do Our Lady's university betray us!

It is inexplicable and undermines the current lawsuit- is anyone paying attention to this at the University?

It always annoys me when I hear or read comments from some Catholics that Notre Dame has ceased to be a Catholic university. I thought I knew better, so I always attributed those remarks to "sour grapes" or jealousy. By making the appointment of Ms. Katie Washington to the Board of Trustees, a person who stands in opposition to basic tenets of the Faith, the University lends support to their critics. This appointment must not stand!

As a friend of Notre Dame and as a Catholic, I humbly ask that each of you take the Catholic reputation of the University very, very seriously. It is already damaged and has a long way to reclaim the trust of Catholics.

Surely you can find a candidate faithful to Catholic teaching. It is inexcusable to do otherwise.

Notre Dame cannot safeguard and sustain her Catholic identity by having members of the Board of Trustees who do not hold and defend the Church's teaching in matters of Faith and Morals. Please remove Katie Washington from the Board, she won't lead or support Notre Dame with integrity..

It is imperative that Notre Dame's governing body appoint Trustees that support religious liberty in this country.

Notre Dame has always been the flagship of Catholic identity in the USA. Please demonstrate that identity by appointing orthodox Catholic individuals to the university board, not Katie Washington.

What would the person whose blood is the bricks of Notre Dame think of your decision to appoint a person opposed to Catholic teaching to the Board of Trustees?

We can't win the lawsuit against the HHS Mandate with fellows like Katie Washington, who are in favor of it!

I cannot support Notre Dame, financially or otherwise, if this Board appointment stands. Miss Washington should have the decency to resign, thus sparing the Fellows and Trustees any further embarrassment.

If Catholic universities pass over qualified faithful Catholics and secular universities ignore qualified faithful Catholics, where is a qualified faithful Catholic suppoed to go?

Notre Dame must rectify this terrible mistake and recalibrate the criteria that guide her major decisions. The University’s priorities are askew. Let’s replace Ms. Washington with Mary Daly, the courageous young woman who, with such clarity, charity, and eloquence, led the student body five years ago in reminding Our Lady’s University of her Catholic origin, character, and mission during the uproar over honoring a pro-abortion politician at Commencement.

Correct your mistake now. Notre Dame is Catholic institution, Some things are non-negotiable! This appointment will have serious consequences to Notre Dame and her reputation.

The whole country is watching Notre Dame and what will happen with your lawsuit. It is imperative that you find another Trustee who will DEFEND the Catholic Church's stance on the HHS Mandate, NOT undermine it.

As a Notre Dame supporter and American, I am outraged that you would choose someone who would not support ND in her lawsuit. RELIGIOUS FREEDOM IN AMERICA IS AT STAKE.Please, please choose someone else. Thank you.

ND needs a Trustee who will DEFEND RELIGIOUS FREEDOM and the Catholic Church, not undermine them.

It is such a disgrace that a prestigious institution is so cynically and continuously standing for every single thing that is Anti-Catholic, anti-Christian and ever unworthy of appraisal as moral and ethic political decisions you are making. Remember that before all you are to represent Christian practice, Tradition and Beliefs.
