I stand with my global sisters against the IMF

As a recent grad ('13) I think that this decision has shown that Smith is paying zero attention to the fact that many students have been calling for more commencement speakers who are women of color. Furthermore, I support the class of 2014 in not wanting the leader of the IMF to speak at their graduation, especially as many Smithies have seen the impacts of IMF policies on their lives personally.

I worked incredibly hard for my degree, and I do not want to be represented by this.

This member of the Class of 2014 agrees that Ms. Lagarde does not represent my values.

Bad choice! Give your 2014 graduates a commencement speaker they can be proud of, not ashamed of, Smith!

The IMF is one of the most exploitative, corrupt institutions in the developing world. Please don't give them a stage and a mic at Commencement wherein we celebrate their acts. Please consider another speaker.

Smith '11 against organizations that squash the world. The first woman heading such an oppressive organization--well, it's a dubious honor that we don't need to laud.

The IMF is not an organization that has a positive effect on humans, and women in particular in this world. It is a direct contradiction that the IMF speak on behalf of Smith in the same moment that we are running a "Women for the World" campaign.

Please reconsider the speaker. Please compose a committee of many students for next years speaker committee.

I'd take an unknown, idealistic humanitarian over an influential soulless CEO any day.

I really feel that the class of '14 didn't get enough opportunity to influence this decision. Please reconsider.
