Reconsider the proposed class changes at Sacred Heart School, Bushey

My son will start in Reception in September. By failing to disclose these plans for the new class structure, the school took away my right to make an informative decision regarding the school choice for my son. I am so disappointed.

I would like to know why this proposed change to the already unpalatable split class system is being rolled out with what seems to be Zero consultation held between parents and school. This is at best fool hardy by the school and at worst underhand and dishonest The school states that “We believe this will genuinely benefit our children” I am struggling to see how increasing the intake of children in a school already at capacity, attempting to teach in the dining hall and potentially mixing children from the ages of 7 – 4 in the same class will genuinely benefit our children. Needless to say I am one of many concerned parents that does not agree with this change. And until evidence that this new system will benefit our children is presented I am 100% against this proposal

If you are proposing to start this in September, you must have been planning for some time, so the lack of consultation is very disappointing. If you haven’t been planning this for a long time, then there hasn’t been enough planning before such a major change!

As per all the comments, very frustrated with schools lack of communication. Our youngest starts in reception in September and if we had been informed of these changes we would not have selected the school.

Concerned about the number of children and lack of staff able to cope

So much for the education of our children being a partnership! Appears it only works one way! Very disappointed such a major change has not been consulted or parents given more lead time to have their concerns addressed.

As a nursery parent I am disappointed to find out at such a late stage that my child will not be in the system that I was promised when I picked the school. One of the arguments in favour of the 40 pupil intake was that the teachers had many years of experience with that system. If it is to change, I would like to know why the class structure is going to be different from the way that the majority of schools with a 45 pupil intake structure it. Why does every class have to be split (and therefore require the children to change classes every year)? Ordering the classes chronologically seems to be more “tried and tested” elsewhere and means that there would be less than a chronological year between most classes (as is the case currently in the “one and a third” system).

do not feel this is the right way forward for our School or children. I feel the decision has been made for it to go ahead without parents knowing of these plans. This obviously has not been thought out as the school is at a push with a 40 intake. What about the parking side of it all as well the residence will not be happy with more cars. Very concerned and unhappy parent.

This will have a devastating effect on the children who already attend your school. I do feel this decision has been made without the interest of our children at all. I can’t understand why we would be going for a 45 intake when the school could not even fill a 40 reception place last year!!! As a very concerned parent I feel disheartened that this decision is in the process for 2018 yet with only the information going out now in June I don’t feel you are interested in what the parents or children feel or are thinking. I don’t feel you have benefitted the school at all.

Totally against it. It is extremely disappointing such a major decision has been made without any consultation with the parents.

There should have been a full consultation in which parents were provided with all of the facts and evidence and asked for their input.

Do not agree with this change as kids so settled and this will change everything, friendship groups, have concerns over making the dining room smaller kids are rushed as it is with Theo lunch.

I fail to see how this change will benefit our children.

We would like a consultation and clarification of how the school plan to implement the new proposal of increasing the number of pupils per classes and the benefit for our kids having those changes

Very concerned with how this increased capacity will work for a school that is already tight on space. Would like to see proof of where such an intake has been successful. Is there plans to expand the buildings or bring in port-a-kabins which would be better than housing kids in the dining room. Disappointed to have not been consulted in the run up to this important decision making process

100% against it. I fail to understand how this will work towards outstanding results. As it is the school struggles, and the communications between parents and school are very poor.

This shouldn't be going ahead 100% against it
