Actually it is completely different. Not saying Brown cannot send his children to a different school other than public makes him unqualified but his lack of involvement of public schools. Tarwater is on the SEEDS board, a BS in special education and he was ELECTED. Brown is not on education boards, did not involve himself is schools in any way shape or form. That's a problem. How can you make informed decisions on something you know nothing about? You can't wothout experience. Plain and simple. Plenty of other candidates that are qualified. I'm not a spokesperson for anyone in particular, just someone with knowledge and experience. I'm sure Brown is a fine young man but a fine young man does NOT give you experience or qualifications.

my Baldwin County School board rep is David Tarwater, who sends his children to a private school in Daphne. If Matthew Brown can not be on a state board for education for this reason, Tarwater must also be taken off BCBE board. Fairness goes both ways. Make it a law that only people with children in public schools and who themselves attended only public schools can serve on state and county school boards. Brown is a great choice - liberalism and discrimination are not

I do not support Matthew Brown's appointment to SBOE. I question if Gov. Bentley considered other more qualified candidates, particularly a potential representative from Mobile County which has far greater population than Baldwin.

Gov. Bentley, We citizens deserve better from YOU! Matthew Brown is NOT the person for the BOE job. Citizens of Alabama deserve a representative who understands and is interested in PUBLIC education.

Surely there are others who would be qualified for this position. Educating our children should be a top priority in this state and this country. We should strive to put the most qualified people in positions affecting our children's welfare.

Matt Brown is not qualified for this position, and it is clear that politics drove the nomination / selection process. Shame on you, Governor Bentley and Senator Tripp Pittman for putting your political agendas ahead of the educational needs of Baldwin County's children.
