It's hard to understand how someone against funding quality public education can advocate for public education. Everyone working for public education at the state and local level should be sending their children to public school. Not doing so undermines any credibility they may have.

The children of Alabama deserve someone who is actually interested in public education.

This man has no experience with public schools and does not want to gain that experience because he is COMPLETELY AGAINST PUBLIC EDUCATION!!!! Remove him now!!!!! This man has no business and quite frankly no right to make any decisions for the students of Alabama!

Mr. Brown appears to have an agenda prior to beginning his tenure. Sometimes, you get what you pay for, as evidenced by Alabama's lack of support and willingness to invest in education.

Mr. Brown has proven himself to be unwilling to help and support the public schools in our area. He is too young, with no educational experience, no PUBLIC school affiliation or experience, and not much life experience.

No one who has so little knowledge of public education should EVER be appointed to such a position!

I believe a person who graduated from a public school and whose children attend public school should hold this position.

Governor Bentley, If you value education as much as you say you do, you must reconsider your appointment of Matt Brown to the Alabama State Board of Education.

PLEASE reconsider. This is a patently obvious political crony appointment. Brown has zero experience, knows nothing about public education, and has admitted he intends to learn on the job. District 1 deserves better representation.

We need someone that has been in public school on the board of education, not a person that has never been in a public school or wants his own children to attend public schools.

Why are we all acting surprised? This is business as usual in politics.
