To get more girls, we have to accept people into our bethels. Let's give girls without relation a chance to make their lives as fun as the girls who have relation.

As a PHQ, Majority Member and former Council member I feel strongly we need to listen to what the girls want. As a daughter I was hesitant every time someone mentioned changing the rules of membership out of fear we would lose our identity as Job's Daughters. However, as an adult I recognize that we need to look at ways to increase our membership. Gone are the days where bethels have 50 active members. We are competing with more activities, clubs, and other forms of entertainment. Why would we want to turn away someone who wants to join because of a lack of known Masonic relationship. Often girls are using relatives they don't know. A Masonic sponsorship would provide an opportunity for the daughter who lacks a family connection to develope a lasting relationship with a Mason. And at the end of the day, Job's Daighters is supposed to be an organization for the girls. If we really want to teach them leadership, we as adults need to listen to what they envision and want for the organization.

For a lot of years I agreed with keeping the rules the same but in recent years I have watched the demise of the order and girls bring turned away that want to be involved and would bring good things to the order. If we want to survive we have to accept change and evolve. Otherwise we will die.

As a MM, PHQ twice, and having worked on a guardian council in a struggling bethel that ended up closing because of lack of members I really, really think that the adults who are 'voting' need to actually listen to the girls - favor for this is grown and grown and grown for a reason...and it isn't because the girls are thinking of 'how it has always been' but 'how it can be' and how they want it to be.

I am a Majority Member, PBG, mom of a PHQ & MM & grandmother of a MM & the time is 25 years or more past due for this change. Sponsorship of new members is the only way this organization can grow & become healthy again!

I am a daughter. I would like this to pass because I want to be able to ask my friends to join without worrying if they have a Mason in their family and be disappointed if they can't join. I want to see my Bethel grow.

I was not able to join Job's daughters because there was no Mason on either side of my parents family while my cousin was able to join and I watched her become a great leader. Lucky enough my daughter has the chance to join because of her father's grandfather was a master mason. Don't rob girls of this amazing opportunity just because of not having a Mason in their families.

Please reconsider this amendment. I was always apprehensive as I am proud of my heritage- but I don't believe that a relationship should stop all the other girls in the world from joining and loving our order as much as the rest of us do. The current girls are in favour of this motion- LISTEN TO THEM!!!!!! they are our future we are only here to SUPPORT them ...Emma-Kate Thompson 6x PHQ #2 and #23 Queensland Australia
