Recognizing February as “Bridget Thorne Month of Truth”

WHEREAS, the preservation of truth, transparency, and public accountability is essential to the legitimacy of democratic governance; and

WHEREAS, public confidence in elections depends upon open inquiry, lawful oversight, and the willingness of elected officials to ask difficult questions in service of the people they represent; and

WHEREAS, throughout her service as a Fulton County Commissioner, Bridget Thorne has consistently demonstrated courage, intellectual rigor, and unwavering commitment to truth—particularly when doing so required standing apart from prevailing political pressure; and

WHEREAS, Commissioner Thorne has been a principled advocate for transparency in election administration, fiscal responsibility, and honest government, emphasizing that accountability strengthens—rather than weakens—public institutions; and

WHEREAS, Commissioner Thorne has conducted herself with professionalism, respect, and common sense, engaging colleagues and constituents alike with clarity, integrity, and reasoned analysis; and

WHEREAS, at a time when public discourse is often clouded by partisan narratives and institutional self-protection, Commissioner Thorne has remained steadfast in her belief that truth is not partisan, and that democratic systems benefit from scrutiny rather than silence; and

WHEREAS, her leadership reflects the highest ideals of public service—placing facts over politics, citizens over convenience, and principle over popularity;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Fulton County Board of Commissioners hereby recognizes the month of February as “Bridget Thorne Month of Truth,” in honor of her dedication to transparency, accountability, and the pursuit of truth in public service; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this recognition affirms the importance of open inquiry, lawful oversight, and respectful dissent as indispensable components of effective governance; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that We, the People of Fulton County, commend Commissioner Bridget Thorne for her integrity, intelligence, and principled leadership, and express our appreciation for her continued service to the citizens of Fulton County; and

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be entered into the official record and presented to Commissioner Bridget Thorne as an expression of public gratitude and recognition.
