I echo Gary Virginia's plead to save the SF Eagle.
I was honored as a title holder of Ms SF Leather 1988. Many contests emerged like Cheeks n Chaps..Bare Chest Calender Contest and too many to mention to raise needed funds for various charitable organizations..The Aids Emergency Fund was established out of need at a vital time when we got no support from any other resources!!
We have lost so many of our LBGTQ spaces South of Market due to big investors in Real Estate relocating entire neighborhoods!! Once lost they are gone forever. We have lost so much and so many already over the years. I lost my artist warehouse at 5th/Folsom after a decade due to condos for profit.
SF Don't sell us out!
The SF Eagle is our last bit of cultural history and herstory. Our Leather roots are vital and important part of of subculture.
Don't lose or wipe that out for future generations. Our cultural roots matter! We matter!
Please preserve what very little we have left!
Save our SF Eagle..It's a cultural icon known worldwide. One of the many places our leather tribe pays homage to when they travel worldwide to visit San Francisco is the SF Eagle!! It's a landmark. It's home base in a world of unknowns and uncertainty.
I've recently relocated to Palm Springs after 40 years in SF/Bay Area. The SF Eagle was the last place I attended before I left. It's my go to place when flying back up for the Ms SF Leather Contest. It's our meet n greet place before Folsom Street Fair and Dore Ally. It's a venue for The Exiles to hold auctions. It's a venue to raise awareness and funds for our political canidates and various communities.
Don't allow our SF Eagle to go extinct!
Save the Eagle!!

As a former SF resident and as a CA resident the SF Eagle is and has always been a haven in a tumultuous sea of discrimination and outright hatred. It remains one of my safe spaces.

The Eagle has been an important place for the LGBTQ and kink communities for decades. More than "just" a bar, it's been the hub for many important community meetings and live music and deserves recognition for it's historical and cultural significance.
