I discovered The Eagle only 4 years ago, and the idea of losing it is already too much to bear. I can't imagine the significance it has to the people who've been coming since the 80s--for the people who fought for my right to be married to the love of my life. I benefit from what these trailblazers fought for. We *all* need The Eagle. It is the queer equivalent of The Washington Monument (only even gayer).

This place is a mecca, a critical safe space for queer culture all across the state - NOT just SF or the bay area. This is our Washington National Mall. This is our home. It has always been more than just a bar. Now with the loss of the Stud, Eagle's only peer, and the threat of the Eagle being sold, it needs protection NOW more than ever. Please keep one of SF's greatest icons alive!!

I’ve always felt a connection to SF Eagle: It’s an icon and a true institution in the LGBTQ community both locally and nationally. It’s
been years since I’ve lived in SF but the Eagle gets a visit twice a year from Seattle

The Eagle has been my go-to gathering spot since I moved to SF in 2005. That’s my community. I stuck by it when it closed from 2011-2013, and I will stick by it for as long as it takes to get it reopened after this pandemic. But it must remain.
