It was a part of the school schedule when I was in school so if it was good for us then it's good for our children now! Plus, it may help with some of the obesity issues there are with children today.

Anyone who, in the face of overwhelming scientific agreement, still thinks there should not be daily recess is dumb.

Research has shown time & time again that recess is vital to development & learning. This is a no brainer. Do the right thing for our kids.

Why are we having to create a petition to allow children to have recess? Please fix this problem for the benefit of our children.

My daughter and son go to Eustis Elementary. My daughter has been diagnosed with ADHD and she desperately needs recess EVERY DAY to help her burn off the extra energy she has stored up. Please give our kids recess!

As a former elementary teacher, recess is a much needed break from sitting and listening; concentrating; and being held prisoner in a desk.

All children need the chance to play during the day. It not only helps relax their minds, but also allows them to build social skills that are just as important in the workplace as common core.

The best way to get the fidgeting and restlessness in kids chained to desks all day is to let them move their bodies. Recess is beneficial not counterproductive. Requiring them to remain seated all day without a break is what is counter-productive.

We pulled out child from elementary over the lack of recess and excessive testing. He is attending s Montessori school where outdoor play is allotted for everyday.

I feel it is important for the children to get some free time to have unstructured activity outside of the classroom. This would allow them to release pent up energy and give their brains a rest so they can be refreshed and reenter the classroom ready to settle down and learn.
