my son goes to an Osceola school with recess and I dont want it to be taken away. Let's stop making our kids miserable and let them be children for heavens sake!

The kids need more recess. I come from a state where kids got one 20-30 minute recess & one 30 minute recess after lunch every single school day in addition to their weekly PE. The kids here in FL DO NOT get enough free play during school. They need more. My kids did better socially & academically with the free play at recess.

Unstructured play helps support classroom achievement. Kids need this in order to do their best in school!

all kids should have recess it relieves stress and teaches them how to get along with others in a social setting and also gives the teachers a breather.

I am from Germany and we live here since 2 years. Our school starts at 8:00am and ends at 1:30pm. These kids have twice a day recess. The first time 15 min. and the second time 20min. Recess is as much important as P.E. There is the other problem I find here in the US. Overseas we have also twice a week over the lengths of two periods.

Children are not robots! They need some time during the school day to unwind or play, to reset their gray matter so that they can take in 'more' for the afternoon classes.
Recess is a must for students.
