Petition to Recall U.S. Senator Jeff Merckley, (D) and U.S Senator Ron Wyden (D) Oregon: This petition is to the population of registered Oregon State voters who disapprove of the actions of Senators Jeff Merckley, and Ron Wyden and wish to officially recall Senators Merckley and Wyden from their elected positions as Senators from the State of Oregon. The recall of elected officials is allowed under the Oregon State Constitution, Article II, Section 18 without presentation of cause. However, if any were needed, the Senators' votes for contravention of the United States Constitution with regard to the First, Second Fourth and Tenth Amendments should be sufficient. It is felt that Senators Merckley and Wyden have shown incompetence in their duties by failing to adequately represent the majority of Oregonians. It is also felt that Senators Merckley and Wyden have violated their oaths of office by failing to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. They have by their actions violated the rights of the State of Oregon and its citizens as guaranteed by the Tenth Amendment of the United States Constitution. "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." Senators Merckley and Wyden's actions and voting record show that they have gone beyond the powers granted elected officials under Article I section 8 of the United States Constitution, and that they no longer represent the common citizen of the State of Oregon, but instead are swayed by special interest groups and party politics that are so prevalent in Washington DC. Furthermore Senators Merckley and Wyden are causing grave damage to the security and stability of the nation by crippling the people of the United States with indefensible and unmanageable debt through their actions. The people of Oregon deserve to be adequately represented at all levels of government by elected individuals who fully realize that they work for “We the People”, and that they must listen to their constituents and vote according to the will of the people and not their own whims or personal agendas. If there is sufficient interest in this recall of Senators Merckley and Wyden, which will be evidenced by the number of registered Oregon voters who sign this petition, then a formal recall of Senators Merckley and Wyden will be initiated following the protocol set forth in the Oregon Constitution for such recalls. Please note that persons signing this petition must be registered Oregon voters for their signature(s) to be considered, and that no person can sign the petition more than once. Please forward this petition and its associated web site to any and all of your fellow Oregon citizens who are interested in enacting future and immediate change in our Senate representation and regain control of our government.
