***********************IF YOU ARE NOT AN ALASKA RESIDENT, DO NOT SIGN THIS PETITION*********************

This petition is to remove Gov. Walker from office for violating our rights as Alaskans by putting a cap on our PFD's. He knows he is in the wrong -- He's announcing this year's amount from out of state! According to Alaska law, to recall an official we must have a petition signed by 10% of the amount of votes that put them into office (which in this case, is roughly 13,466 signatures). I have made the goal 15,000 to ensure that we have enough VALID entries. If we hand over a petition with 13,500 signatures, but only 13,000 are valid, the application for recall will be tossed in the trash.

Outside of the petition, there is also a need for a committee. They will need to present a letter explaining how Gov. Walker has not fulfilled his duties (which must remain under 200 letters), a $100 deposit (which will be refunded if the application is valid), and the petition. After this, it will be reviewed by the Division of Elections.

If they agree to the recall, we will have to do even MORE work, but we will cross that bridge when we come to it. If this is all sounding a bit daunting, you should know that many other states have been successful in recalling their state officials! http://www.ncsl.org/research/elections-and-campaig...

EDIT: I mentioned this in the Facebook Group post, but failed to mention it here. This petition has the possibility to be denied by the State due to there being no physical signatures to go along with the rest of the information. Because of this, entries could be forged. PLEASE CONTINUE TO SIGN AND SUPPORT REGARDLESS. We are making a statement, and are showing the State just how many people want Walker out. I will be visiting the Regional Division of Elections tomorrow (9/21/2016) to communicate with them about this issue. If they decide not to accept this petition, I will either be joining with a group in Kenai that is running a physical petition or I will create my own. Thank you all!
