Why is this even a question? If the Williamson County BOE is debating this, their standing on the board should be questioned.

It is absurd to me that we are having to argue that it is more valuable to provide educational space for our kids than it is to have a larger space for the humane society. While I am not opposed to the mission of the humane society, proximity to local communities is not a fundamental need for them. The expense of moving their facility would be much less to the community than finding another way to afford the growth of our school. I would welcome the opportunity to speak to any public official who opposes providing for our students and our community.

FHS has the staff, admin, student and parent population necessary to make it the preeminent High School in the County. Despite the lovely architectural facade, roomy hallways and open rotunda (all of whicn are fantastic) many of our other facilities are lacking (for example; arts & athletics) and in desperate need of expansion and updating. We all have our line-item agenda issues but my hope and desire is to see FHS released from the bondage of being so landlocked with its' grounds and outpaced with its program and facility offerings. This is a prime opportunity and the decision is a strategic no-brainer, as it will better position FHS to meet the demands & serve the $1M + influx of residents that will be flowing into Williamson Co. within the next 7-10 years. We need to be forward-thinking, proactive and look at the big picture. Let's make this happen!

Please definitely take advantage of this land/structure opportunity to finally give our county’s beloved city’s high school, her namesake, it’s due. It’s hard to believe this has happened while beautiful, new facilities are popping up in several other places in the county. We have relatives who graduated from FHS, one received a baseball scholarship to Vanderbilt 35 yrs ago. Wonder if the athletic facilities have changed since then?? It is a shame this was not addressed before now. Kudos to Mr. Critchlow who never gave up, and new board members Mrs. Burgos and Mrs. Lawson who got the ball rolling (FHS is not even their district!) Please note that Mrs. Lawson was the only board member that voted no (Mrs. Curlee abstained) on whether the superintendent met or exceeded expectations r/t school athletic facilities/amenities as 1 of the 4 points he was evaluated on at the beginning of 2015. I am amazed not many parents truly know what’s going on in relation to our schools & the education of their kids. I’ve been to several school board meetings and not many parents attend except some who are still complaining about the outcome of the school bd election last Aug & wasting the board’s time. The school bd meetings are the 3rd Mon of every month 6:30pm, 1320 West Main St (the old hospital building where you get your car tags), enter on the east side of the building. The Thurs night before the board meeting is the Work Session at 6pm, now open to the public, thanks to the new board members, & is the real deal, when the matters at hand are discussed while Mondays the public can speak at the beginning and the voting occurs. Please come & support your schools, get to know the reps firsthand; yourself, not from what you’ve heard. Pride in our schools, their facilities & amenities goes a long way to promote community spirit and the students understand there is an investment made for them--to attain their best. This is even more important with what goes on ins
