MCCSC is the only school district in the entire state of Indiana who's board has disarmed its trained student resource officers (SRO), in May of 2021. Soon after the board's decision, South had two gun incidents in two weeks, possibly a precursor to something worse. The board turned down free metal detecting wands from the state in 2018 and opted for an SRO program, but then weakened the safety of its students and staff by disarming the trained officer put in place for protection. In light of the Michigan shooting, common sense needs to prevail. After numerous emails ignored from the board, stagnant meetings with the superintendent, we refuse to be landlocked. This decision must be reversed. If we cannot keep weapons from coming through our doors, the only chance our children and their educators/staff have is the one officer who has trained to run towards gunfire and put his/her life second to everyone around them.

We just hit 500 signatures and the MCCSC board needs to stop ignoring this growing demand for safety. They left our children vulnerable in a world where gun threats are real and constant. This is just the beginning of the pressure we are putting on these administrators.

The MCCSC board continues to hide behind silence while our schools remain needlessly vulnerable. We are still fighting to force these officials to acknowledge the danger they manufactured by disarming our protection. This board must stop gambling with our children's safety and bring back armed officers immediately.

The MCCSC board continues to ignore our pleas while our schools remain sitting ducks. We are nearing the one hundred signature mark so push this link out everywhere right now to force them to stop hiding from their own failure.

These officers are carefully selected specifically trained, and disarming them, places them in jeopardy. They cannot protect themselves, students, or staff, and I believe they are an essential part of any school safety plan.

i’m a student at south and i think if the security guard had a weapon on them we would be safer. Especially after the tragedy in Michigan and the past two lockdowns

I never get involved with signing petitions, however, I feel this is a MUST! Please consider allowing this to happen. I understand that this is a touchy subject. It truly needs to pass. Especially since these people are normally retired police officers with the adequate training. Help protect the children in these school systems.

As a property owner in mccsc I voted to pay extra taxes to help retain teachers and programs.I will turn my yes vote in to a no if the guards aren’t reinstated

To have unarmed Police Officers is like having firemen without water or hoses....pointless. MCCSC is being negligent in the protection of our children.

Indiana law (20-26-18.2-2) states that the function of the SRO is to protect against violence and outside intrusion. This law was made to be a deterrent for people such as the student in Michigan, and to protect our world’s most valuable resources: Children and Teachers.

In order to protect the administration, teachers and students, you need to be serious about your responsibility. An unarmed resource officer is putting him and everyone on the premises at risk.

The trained resource officer could be the only thing protecting the students and staff.
