So how many times do you flick through a magazine and think "I don't look like her, she's much thinner and prettier than me"? Well believe me statistics show that it happens daily, to girls aged just 11. Research shows that in the last 10 years the number of teenagers with an eating disorder, low self esteem and zero body confidence is up by 40%. Why is this happening? Maybe its got something to do with the fact that day in day out we are faced with unrealistically slim unrealistically pretty women who have achieved their looks mainly through surgical intervention to represent us. This petition is to highlight the point that this needs to stop. That magazines and the media need to provide young women with relate-able role models and not stick thin representatives. If I could re-write every magazine this is what I would include : No model smaller than a size 8 to model clothes, on every fashion shoot models of sizes 8-14 must be used, a two page spread on body confidence tips and tricks and no weight loss/weight gain celebrity stories. Sign this petition and hopefully we can make a difference! Cheers girls xxxx
