One never realizes how much a law like this can impact a person until it is implemented and shown to be a burden upon that person's ability to freely move and engage in a day to day existence. This national ID makes it so that a person will be burdened with ensuring that all their documents match when there are many errors in the system already. I have documents put out by state agencies that contained spelling errors made by them and or errors that have occured due to other human errors and I have already seen that this can make it so that I cannot fly on a plane, and if a person cannot move freely based on something like a name error in spite of birth certificates, social security cards, driver's licenses, etc., then getting another ID is just another burden on that person to limit their freedom and ability to travel when necessary. Like others point out this is unconstitutional and is beginning to feel very much like what has been done in many brutal dictatorships, why do our leaders not see that this is not about security it is about limiting our freedom and privacy.

Those who would give up a little liberty for a little security deserve neither.
While the law claims good intentions, it has clear parallels to Nazi Germany.
Why should I have to even think about my legal name change when it happened 22 years ago. The government already has that information.
