We, the undersigned residents of Warwick East Subdivision in New Orleans, La. 70127, are opposed to Zoning Docket 56-16, an amendment to Ordinance NO. 25,943 MCS (ZD 035/14), which allowed the sale of packaged alcoholic beverages for a gas station at 7358 Read Boulevard, for another conditional use to permit a bar next to the gas station on the same property.

• On the application, the owner, Mr. Khan, states that he wants to build a daiquiri shop next to his gas station but he has to apply as a bar. This will make enforcement even more difficult than it is currently.
• The City Planning Commission denied his request, noting that it is not compatible with the zoning because it is not a business that serves the neighborhood.
• Mr. Khan does not keep the gas station area clean and he makes no effort to stop loitering on his property. There is trash on his property all of the time. Customers buy beverages and hang out on the gas station property, drinking their alcoholic beverages on the site.

This business is directly across Read Boulevard. from a daycare center that is re-opening this month, and will be negatively impacted by the proposed daiquiri shop.
