I also raise my voice requesting the Statehood for Puerto Rico. My father served in the WWII. We don’t want to be seen and treated as second or third class people anymore.

This is a problem of human and civil rights and it is sad that the nation that has always been at the forefront with laws in this regard, maintains in the middle of the 21st century a colony where its American citizen inhabitants have expressed the vast majority and on several occasions the desire to become a state of the nation.

We are US citizen since 1917. Citizenship that I value and respect. Every since I was a little girl, I was taught to respect and honor the American and Puertorican flags. On November 3, 2020, the majority of the Puertorican voters, 53%, decided for statehood. We want to be a state of USA. Many Puertoricans have served under the American flag with honor. My brother, a USA Marine, fought and died in 1967, in the War of Vietnam. My son and two nephews fought in the War of Irak in 2003. I hope that their sacrifice hasn't been in vain. We the people, that live in Puerto Rico, have the right to be treated equally to those that live in the USA.
