The council confirmed today that Marchbanks is reopening. We finally got the result we fought for.

Final supporters
We believe it was short-sighted to close the Marchbanks Recycling and Civic Amenity Centre.
Closed by the City Council in 2013, it means that residents in areas like Downfield, St Mary's, Kirkton and Ardler in the north-west of the city have to travel all the way to Riverside or Baldovie - some miles away - to get to the only major recycling/civic amenity sites left in the city.
This causes great inconvenience to residents in the area and it also makes no environmental sense to have more cars having to drive miles to Whitfield or the West End from the area just to get to one of the main recycling sites.
We therefore call on Dundee City Council to re-open Marchbanks to the public or provide a facility similar to Baldovie/Riverside that is convenient to people in the north west of Dundee.

we really need a recycling centre at this side of town. for those without transport, it means we cannot transport easily our recyclable goods to the other centres, thus recycling halts
Myself and family members live in DD3 and this is an issue that affects us , losing marchbanks hit a huge number of residents in Dundee . No wonder there is so much fly tipping going on !!! The nearest skips are miles away and not suitable for a lot of people to get to
This was a great facility in this part of the city. The money that was spent to bring this centre up to a great standard then to close it does not make any sense financially or environmentally.
I used to use Marchbanks on an almost weekly basis taking not only my recycling but also two neighbour's. Won't drive to Baldovan so much more ends up in landfill. Short sighted to close this excellent facility.
I live in the Law area and I'd love if this reopened, having to drive backwards and forwards to Riverside can be a half hour round trip in the summer as opposed to 10 mins. I've been putting more in my bin than I would normally since it closed.
Despite what the council say, this baldly thought out decision to close Marchbanks recycling site has caused flytipping around Dundee.
Convenient !! It's quite a journey to get to Riverside !!!!'
