As an alumnus of the Explore program, I find it troubling to see that this is happening. Explore is a vitally important program that provides memorable and transformative experiences as well as invaluable language skills for Canadian youth. Adequate training is essential to ensure that the teaching staff and especially the animateurs are held to the highest standards of conduct and professionalism.

My experience at UQAC - Alma were NOTHING like this. This is a valuable program but it needs review and better training if this is what is happening.

I found this incident appalling. Not only was there complete ignorance and apathy towards those who have been victims of sexual assault, but the manner in which the rape 'jokes' were presented in the assembly and the acceptance of showing implied rape as a comic in class are repulsive examples of a program perpetuated with rape culture that is enabled and encouraged by the administration and staff at Explore.

UQTR needs to integrate mandatory consent training for all faculty and volunteers in their programs. Joking and/or making light of rape in any situation is wrong, but when it's a publicly funded program that's even worse.

This is extremely inappropriate. It's disappointing to see that those who are supposed to be in charge of educating the youth of today think that it is ok to joke about rape and not be mature enough to apologize for this severe mistake in joking about it.

This is so beyond acceptable I can't even find words. It's certainly not worthy of government funding if they can't even begin to address basic issues of consent.
