This rule isn’t okay..and students go through things everyday and it shouldn’t have to effect their grades.

I am a student athlete at Rose City high school. I run cross country and track and am also in band. This new grading policy is a little outrageous. Having to get up early , go through school, and go to work.. I can work to as late as 10 or so and get up as early as 4: 30. Plus meets on weekends really crunches my Schedule. Most of the time I'm home I rather have home work or projects that I can't finish because if I try, I will not get enough sleep in order to function at my best. Many of my friend that are also athletes and in PreAP, AP, or dule credit classes have to stay up late and try to get stuff done. Most of the time they can't get it all done and have to pick what grades to sacrifice. With the old policy, we could be late but not have a grade possibly be detrimental to out GPA. These grade make our future but if the school makes it to where people have to choose between grades or bodily health, the school has to be crazy. I do not agree with the new grading policy. And this is why.

I do think that it is appropriate to make the system a bit more strict. However, the amount of points being deducted for a single late day is rather much. Instead of thirty points, twenty points seems more appropriate since it won't send someone with a 98 down to the point of failing. Then you can decrease the points by five or ten deductions as the days go by, of course. Thanks.
