Rattlesnake Roundups are 'festivals' that are held annually throughout the Untied States. They are also among the most inhumane and most deplorable acts of intentional animal cruelty to be carried out. Snakes are captured and kept in disgusting conditions, often without food or water for weeks at a time. The snakes are held like this until the actual roundups take place. During these, snakes are tortured by being kicked, stomped on, whipped, burned, skinned alive, and by having their mouths sewn shut. After being tortured, the snakes are then killed, usually by decapitation. I am urging all of you to sign this petition. The petition will be sent to the State Regulatory Agency (Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife) that have jurisdiction over the Texas Rattlesnake roundups, and ask to have these brought to an immediate halt.
