Rasmussen College to keep physical books as a part of all courses

I agree we should have the right to choose which type of books we pay for!

I would love to have a physical book to hang onto, mark pages and to get away from the electronic computer or ipad.

i feel that not all students want to sit at a computer to read a book. it is our choice how we read thigns and taking that away from us is wrong. Even if ebooks are cheaper it takes away from the portability of a text book over a computer. we dont always have a way to use ebooks or keep using them because we cant always plug a computer in everywhere we go. I personally hate ebooks, i wear glasses and with my poor eye site i have a hard time sitting in front of a computer for too long reading anything. Not every person is able to handle sitting in front of a computer for hours on end sometimes reading a text book. We have the right to choose how we want our books for our classes specially if its our money going to pay for everything.

I had the same issue with ebook. I am currently behind in my class now because I have had repeated problems signing in to course smart. I would prefer a hard cover book so that I do not have to carry my computer around every where I go. The process of exchanging your ebook for a hard copy is inconvenient and time consuming , plus you do not get to keep the book after completion of the course. I am upset that Rasmussen would take it upon themselves to make a change without consulting with the student base first.

Please let students have the option,...I am not a traditional student as I am older and I feel so much more comfortable studying from a physical book than an e-book! Plus, I can take it to work with me and we do not have WIFI available where I work so if switched to ebooks I would not have the extra 4-5 hours a week I study now. PLEASE let the students decide what to choose...we pay the bill anyway!

I not only think that we should have the choice, I think that it should be offered when we sign up for classes that we elect to have all paper textbooks. That way the bookstore knows that we want them, and we do not have to wait for them until after the quarter begines.

I do NOT like the e-books. I have tried using the e-books and I do NOT like them. I work in Health Information Management and we are not allowed to use the computers for personal use and I cannot access a computer in order to study. Therefore, I must take my physical books to work with me so that I can study on my breaks. I do not have access to a computer all the time. PLEASE do NOT take away the option of having a physical book. I reference all of my books from previous classes on a regular basis.I have also been told by my optometrist not to sit in front a computer too long because my eyes.

I think we should have a choice between an Ebook or a physical book. I don't like the idea of having to carry my laptop around with me everywhere I go if I want to study when I'm out of the house. I don't want to leave my computer in my car and risk it getting stolen with all of my personal information/pictures/etc. on it. I feel like it is much easier to study (especially when I am not at home) with a physical book. Not to mention my eyes start to hurt after staring at the computer screen for an extended amount of time. I understand that employers these days are looking for people that are able to work with computers, but lets face it we all must know how to use computers if we are in college. Esepecially if we are in online classes! I don't need an Ebook to teach me how to use a computer. Another thought of mine is that I am paying $150 per class for course fees. I feel like that money would be a total waste if I were not recieving a hard copy book that I can hold and use wherever I want and keep forever. I think if I am the one paying for my education and course fees, I should be able to choose between the Ebook and physical book. Thanks!

I have a hard time starring at the screen for too long. My eyes start to hurt and I get a headache. Also, the book is easier to access. I may not always have electronic access to an ebook.

I hate the e-books! I agree we should just get physical books. I learn much better by having an actual book. It is hard enough doing all these classes online and then having to struggle with internet connection and accessing books. I like to be able to read, highlight and flip back and forth with an actual book.

down with the e-books/ Nothing is better than a real book.

I've been complaining about ebooks since the school made it an impossible task to get physical copies. Every semester I have to return the e-book and reorder my physical which takes 2 weeks. The school has became so money hungry! They claim that the ebooks are just as expensive. On the contrary, what would then motivate them to enforce them? I already sit on the computer for hours a weeks, now I have to sit on my computer just to read? With a book I can flip back and forth through pages, ebooks, I have to guess what page it was out of 600. "Ohh, but you can highlight things with ebooks", so can I with a physical. PLUS A PHYSICAL I CAN KEEP FOR LIFE SEEING AS I PAID FOR IT, ebooks have to be returned after 3 years. Their is no sense in arguing any point though, it's ultimately money that the school wants. Even if you don't use a book for you class, they'll still charge you $150 per a class for expenses. You got my vote!

I don't like the ebooks. I dont have wifi in my house so I am always having to go other places just to do homework. I cannot study in my house or go back and reread when im doing my assignment....Real books are so much easier to read and take in.

So on top of charging us an obscene amount for tuition, these people are also going to charge us to RENT a digital copy of a book?!?!?! HELL NO, with tuition as high as it is, I am going to keep all the learning materials that are given to me!

I learn more effectively & absorb the information so much better with textbooks. I am just starting at Rasmussen & hope that they are not discontinued. I also have an eye condition which eBooks are too difficult for me to read. Thanks, Sheena.
