‘Ras Tafari’ Soccer Club, which previously was also known as ‘Tis Abay’, was established 12 years ago. During this long period, this Ethiopian soccer team has been consistently participating in the annual ESFNA eastern conference competitions in the Washington DC area. It has also been notably known to win many awards and trophies over the years.

Beyond being legally known in the city of Alexandria, VA, the team is led by organized competent leaders from within the Ethiopian Community. Board members of the football club are respected elders of the community and are equipped to lead this team in the right direction.

Ras Tafari Soccer Club Executive Vision

1. Organize youth in the DMV area to play soccer and discourage substance abuse (alcohol, drugs and more) which can be harmful to their well being. In doing so, we promote education and strong sense of national pride.

2.The Ethiopian population in the greater Washington DC area is greater than it has ever been. Due to this alarming community growth, the five soccer teams also known as DC-5 are not sufficient to facilitate a playing space for all the youth of this area. In response, Ras Tafari S.C. has given talented youth of the area the opportunity to play organized soccer and further strengthen ESFNA.

Currently, there are two teams in Maryland (Saint Michaels, Ethio Maryland), two teams in DC (DC Star, DC Unity) and only one team in Virginia (Virginia Lion). For this reason, Ras Tafari S.C. has been working tirelessly to show ESFNA and DC­-5 the necessity of having one more additional team to become the second team in Virginia.

We have been forced to write this petition today because we have not gained recognition from ESFNA despite our extensive request to join the federation for the past ten years. So we are politely asking the public to help us convince DC-­5 about the urgent need for a new candidate team in the area. Allowing Ras Tafari S.C. to join this year’s (2015) ESFNA third division tournament held in Maryland will greatly alleviate the lack of playing space found within the Washington Metropolitan Area. Being the youth oriented team we are, we want to give players a chance to showcase their talents. The executive board of Ras Tafari S.C. would like to courteously ask the Ethiopian Community to support us in this mission to gain official recognition from DC-5 in Washington Metropolitan Area by signing this petition.*

የራስ ተፈሪ የእግር ኳስ ቡድን ፐቲሽን

የቀድሞው ስሙ ጢስ አባይ በኋላም ራስ ተፈሪ በመባል የሚታወቀው የኢትዮጵያውያን የእግርኳስ ቡድን በቨርጂኒያ ግዛት ከተቋቋመ 12 አመታትን አስቆጥሮአል፡፡ በዚህም ረጅም ጊዜ ውስጥ ለ10 ዓመታቶች ያለማቋረጥ የኢትዮጵያ ፉትቦል ፌዳሬሽን በዋሽንግተን ሜትሮ ፖሊታን አካባቢ በሚያደርገው የኢስተርን ኮንፍረንስ ውድድር ላይ በመሳተፍ አኩሪ ድሎችን ተቀዳጅቶአል ፡፡

ይህ ቡድን በአሌክሳንድሪያ ቨርጂኒያ ህጋዊ እውቅና ከመኖሩ በላይ በአካባቢው ከሚኖሩት ህብረተሰብ ውስጥ ግለሰቦችን በማሰባሰብ ጠንካራ የስራ አስኪያጅ ኮሚቴ ለማቋቋም ችሎአል፡፡

የራስ ተፈሪ የእግር ኳስ ቡድን ዋና አላማዎች

1ኛ. ታዳጊ ወጣቶችን በቡድኑ አካባቢ በማሰባሰብ ከአደገኛ ሱሶችና፣ ከአልባሌ ቦታዎች ተቆጥበው ትምህርታቸውን በወቅቱ በማጠናቀቅ ጠንካራ ኢትዮጵያዊ ዜጋ እንዲወጣቸው ማድረግ!

2ኛ. የኢትዮጵያኖች ቁጥር በዋሽንግተን ሜትሮ ፖሊታን አካባቢ ከምንግዜውም በላይ እየጨመረ በመምጣቱ በአምስቱ የእግር ኳስ ቡድኖች (ዱሲ ፋይቭ በመባል የሚጠሩት) ውስጥ ገብተው ለመጫወት እድል ያላገኙትን ወጣቶች በማሰባሰብና በቡድን መልክ በማደራጀት የሰሜን ኣሜሪካ የኢትዮጵያ ፉትቦል ፌደሬሽንን (ESFNA) እንዲዋሀዱ ማድረግ ነው፡፡

ለዚህም ነው የራስ ተፈሪ የእግር ኳስ ቡድን በዲሲ ሁለት፣ በሜሪላንድ ሁለት ቡድኖች እንዳሉት ሁሉ ብዙ ኢትዮጵያውያን በሚገኙበት ቨርጂኒያ ግዛት አንድ ተጨማሪ ቡድን እንደሚያስፈልግ ያለመታከት ፌዳሬሽኑን እና ዲሲ ፋይቭን እያሳሰበ ያለው፡፡

ዛሬ ይህንን ፔትሽን እንድናዘጋጅ የተገደድንበት ምክንያት ላለፉት አስር አመታት የራስ ተፈሪ የእግር ኳስ ቡድን የኢትዮጵያን ፌደሬሽን ለመዋሃድ ያቀረበው ማመልከቻ መልስ ባልማግኘቱ እና በዚህ አካባቢ የሚገኙ አምስቱ ቡድኖች (ዱሲ ፋይቭ) በአሁኑ ግዜ ያለው የወጣቶች ችግር ሊፈታ የሚችለው አንድ ተጨማሪ ቡድን በማካተት መሆኑን ተረድተው በዚህ አመት (በ2015) በሜሪሊንድ ላይ በሚደረገው የኢትዮጵያኖች ኳስ ጨዋታ ላይ የራስ ተፈሪ የእግር ኳስ ቡድን እንደ አንድ እጩ (ተወዳዳሪ) ቡድን ሆኖ በሶስተኛው ዲቪዥን ውስጥ ገብቶ ለመጫወት እንዲችል የዲሲ ፋይቭ ፈቃደኝነት ስለሚጠይቅ ለዚህ ተግባር ተፈፃሚነት የመተማመኛ ድጋፍ በማስፈለጉ በዋሽንግተን ሜትሮ ፖሊታን አካባቢ የሚገኙ ኢትዮጵያውያን ከዚህ በታች በተዘጋጀው ፐትሽን ላይ በመፈረም ትብብራችሁን እንድትገልጹልን የራስ ተፈሪ የእግር ኳስ ቡድን ስራ አስኪያጅ ኮሚቴ በትህትና ይጠይቃል ፡፡*
