I recently learned of a man who was raped in a hostel by a stranger. This man happens to be gay and when the LAPD was called, the officer told him that a gay man can't be raped. Instead, arrested him for "theft" since he had the strangers bag. This ignorance should NOT be tolerate. A rape victim should not be treated with more assault.Whether gay or straight, male or female, rape is rape and is NEVER ok!
According to POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) of California, rape programs are available if an officer is interested but not mandatory. Please sign this petition to make it mandatory for all Police Officers to attend a rape seminar with in the first year of joining the force so this kind of event and ingornace won't happen again!
