Petitions for the Ranney Dress Code 1. The students of the Upper School would like to wear pants and skirts with sewn on pockets. They are available in many stores and it is difficult to find pants without the sewn on pockets on the back. The pockets would not be excessive or inappropriate for dress code. The pants would remain navy blue and khaki and the only small change would be the sewn on pockets on the back. Original petition written by Jaya Sondhi ’12. 2. The students of the Upper School would like to alter the dress code for shoes. Many students own Sperry Top Siders or Boat Shoes. They are stylish and go well with the Ranney Dress code. They are comfortable and very much in style. The shoes come in black and brown which are acceptable colors in the Ranney Dress Code. Students continue to buy boat shoes and the boat shoes should be added to the list of acceptable footwear. Original petition written by Samantha Schaaf ’15. 3. The students of the Upper School would like to allow navy blue shoes. The colors of Ranney are navy blue and white. Students wear navy blue sweaters and navy blue skirts and pants. Navy blue shoes should be added to the dress code. Navy blue is dark and is not a visual distraction. Also, they go well with the school colors of Ranney. Original petition written by Samantha Schaaf ’15. 4. In addition to the navy blue shoes, the students should be allowed to wear suede shoes. It is not too casual and it is a form of leather. Suede shoes are formal and should not be excluded from the Ranney Dress Code. Petition supported by Dean of Students, Dr. Delgado.
